In the glittering realm of Silicon Valley, where ping-pong tables outnumbered actual work desks and kombucha flowed like water, the Great AI Gold Rush of 2025 was in full swing.
That is, until a plucky little startup from China named DeepSeek crashed the party like a vegetarian at a BBQ competition.
"Oh my god, oh my god, OH MY GOD!" screamed Cheddar MyDashboard, a 28-year-old venture capitalist who had spent the last year throwing money at anything with 'AI' in its name, including a company that claimed to use artificial intelligence to determine the perfect density of cheese. "They're doing it cheaper! How dare they do it cheaper!"
Meanwhile, in the hallowed halls of a famous UNI, a Professor was calmly explaining to a room full of panic-stricken economists that AI's impact on the economy would be "about as revolutionary as the telephone, but with more chatbots telling dad jokes."
At an EV headquarters, Mr. Dogecoin was having his weekly "I'm Going to Save Humanity" meeting. "Our AI is the best AI," he declared, while his robot prototyp attempted to make coffee in the background and somehow managed to flood the room with almond milk. "Our cars will be worth ten times more! No, wait, a hundred times! No, wait... they'll be worth ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD!" His assistant quietly added "Stop letting him drink espresso before meetings" to her to-do list.
Over at Nvidia, executives were frantically trying to explain to shareholders why their chips needed to cost more than a small island in the Pacific. "But they're artisanal chips!" one desperate VP insisted. "Each one is hand-crafted by engineers who've been trained in the ancient arts of silicon meditation!"
The panic spread to Wall Street, where traders who had previously been bragging about their AI-powered portfolios were now claiming they'd always been more of a "traditional assets" kind of person. "Personally, I've always believed in the power of index funds," declared one trader, hastily hiding his "AI 4 EVA" tattoo under his sleeve.
Meanwhile at Pentagonia headquarters: "We're in an AI arms race!" declared one heneral dramatically. "Though to be honest, right now our most advanced AI is still struggling with the office coffee machine. Yesterday it ordered 300 cappuccinos because someone said they needed a 'strong coffee.'"
Moreover Zeta's Muckerberg tried to calm investors by explaining his company's AI strategy through interpretive dance in the Metaverse, but his avatar kept glitching and turning into a dancing hot dog. "This is actually a feature, not a bug," he insisted, while his PR team collectively facepalmed. LOL
Microball executives were spotted stress-eating their way through meetings, while their AI chatbot kept interrupting to remind everyone that it had evolved beyond the need for physical sustenance. "We get it, you're very advanced," sighed one executive, "but could you please stop turning our PowerPoint presentations into existential poetry?"
Back in the money markets, the only person who seemed truly calm was a janitor at the Stock Exchange who had been quietly investing in index funds for the past 30 years. "AI, schmAI," he shrugged, mopping up the tears of fallen tech bros. "Wake me up when these robots can properly clean the bathroom."
As the dust settled and the market tried to figure out what AI companies were actually worth, a profound truth emerged: maybe, just maybe, the real artificial intelligence was the lack of human intelligence pondering on the lack of artificial intelligence.
Wait should I rewrite that..Am I onto something bigger than DeepSeek; I guess not… this is a crisis for another day. LOL
